Japanese Chins are small, well balanced, square dog. They have large, dark eyes and silky, straight single coat that forms a ruff at the neck. Colors are black and white, red and white, or black and white with tan points. The Japanese Chin coat requires daily gentle combing and brushing to keep the coat free from tangles. Brushing and combing must be done in a specific manner like the way professionals do.

Japanese Chins are sensitive, mild-mannered, lively and intelligent dog. They are also affectionate and loving. These dogs have good memory and they have strong likes and dislikes. This breed makes an excellent companion. They get a long well with strangers, children and other animals.

Japanese Chins are much more obedient than the other toy breeds. They are eager to please and easy to train. This breed excels at learning and performing tricks. They require a minimal amount of exercise. They enjoy a short walk or play session daily.
