Lakeland Terrier is among the oldest working terrier breeds known today. It is a small sturdy dog with a small, oval brown or hazel eyes and v-shaped ears. It has a double coat with a soft undercoat and wiry outer coat. Colors are blue, black, liver, wheaten, or red and sometimes with saddle mark. The coat does not require a lot of grooming. Hair should be hand plucked 3 times a year.

Lakeland Terrier is friendly, cheerful and affectionate. This characteristic makes them an ideal family pet. This dog is alert and they like to chase almost anything that move. It is necessary to have a well fenced yard.

This dog must be trained well. They can develop behavioral problems without experience training. Training must be firm and consistent. Lakeland terrier requires a lot of exercise. They are big dogs in small bodies. It does well in agility, and loves jogging or brisk runs.
